Guards are also a little meaner now, and will come to the defense of citizens you attack, even if they are not in the room. This is a change that most of you will not notice (hopefully), but which go a long ways towards fixing most of the weird impale/hostage bugs that have been happening. I agree that this is a problem since all NPCs track (and track very quickly). While it's great to have dangerous areas, it's also nice to have some variety. Not all NPCs track anymore. The building team is going to have to go through and make some manual adjustments where necessary, but for the most part this is how we altered things: - Sentient NPCs above a certain level will still track - Aggressive NPCs will still track - Heroic or Elite NPCs will still track - Very high level NPCs will still track The rate at which they track is no longer standardized either. It is, in most cases, generally a little slower than they attack. However, for those NPCs that wander, it is much slower (i.e., an aggressive NPC that wanders isn't likely to walk in, attack you, and then chase you very quickly). Please also be aware that the "guidelines" I laid out are only for those NPCs affected retroactively by this update, and I'm posting it so you can have some idea of what to expect as you venture out into this brave new world. It doesn't represent building standards, official policy, or anything like that. Please don't expect that NPCs will conform to this going forward. Enjoy! Fixed by replacing with currency function and setting currency to Kingdom. - Infiltrate for societies didn't check for room or warding. Fixed! - Immolate allows for players to cast at mobs, although it will always fail (since you can't ignite an NPC). It was giving an untrapped error instead. It will now cast, and fail (but not error). - Apply and Eat were not splitting replica stacks, causing players to consume multiple items without intention. This is no longer the case. - Fixed an error when buying more than one item from a player shop. Amount was always showing as 0 and not what the player purchased. - Warcraft Blocking was not checking for newsrooms or oleditor. Fixed! - Con(sider) and Greet both restricted player names to 4 or more, when some players have 3. You must FLEE instead. - Using NEXT while in the Newsroom will no longer reset the current section to zero or one, but instead increment appropriately. - Deafness will prevent you from hearing anything said by normal communication, including eavesdropping, and instead indicate a player has spoken and what form of communication they used, unless you're blind. - Hunger messages that implied prone will now in fact, knock you from your feet. SLEEP ON and LAY/LIE ON - You can now recline on a bed for the purpose of sleeping!   Along with the aforementioned commands, a new system of liquid holding has been in place that will dramatically affect several aspects of life in Midkemia. Most notably, cold weather will now make certain liquids in your possession freeze over should the temperature drop, along with lakes and rivers feeling the bitter chill of winter. To combat this radical change, fire-producing items can be purchased by the cities to warm taverns, inns and places often frequented by their citizens. At the moment, the only two items that can be purchased are fireplaces and bonfires, for indoors and outdoors respectively. These fires can be lit with a tinderbox and require two commodities to function properly: coal will steadily increase the temperature until consumed, while wood will maintain the heat of a fire. It is no longer level dependent whatsoever, instead being entirely dexterity dependent. This means that riding a mount is more important to quick, long-distance travel, and better reflects the scope of the world. - Endurance regen is now very minorly affected by dexterity. Here's how it boils down: essentially everyone regenerates endurance at a flat rate. Every X number of seconds, you get an additional regen boost. The higher your dexterity, the lower the X number of seconds for that extra point of endurance. - Spellshield absorption is now Intelligence based instead of Willpower based. - The constant drain of Sneak has been eliminated. The per-room drain is still the same. - Sneak now also affects the speed at which old tracks decay. If a track is left while the Rogue is sneaking, it will age and subsequently fade twice as quickly as a normal track. Therefore, it is always in your interest to split up and hold as many of the control points in an area as possible for the maximum point gain, rather than camp out a single point. Clotting will begin the process of clotting your blood and curing all bleeding. This process will continue until you are no longer bleeding, or you cannot continue to clot. You may also clot manually if you wish to clot faster (just keep entering CLOT). Be aware that simply clotting away all bleeding may drain your adrenaline rather quickly, so you may need to make a decision whether to clot it all away, or whether to simply suffer the health damage. You may STOP CLOTTING at any time to stop your clotting. As a result, a number of skills have been updated: - Bleeding Levels have been updated from affliction stacks to be whether or not you are bleeding for a % of your maximum health. The levels are: 1 = 1%, 2 = 2-3%, 3 = 4-5%, 4 = 6-7%, and level 5 is anything over 8% of your maximum health per bleed tic. - Bloodlore Blood Hunt is now limited to the local area, and no longer requires that you have inflicted the bleeding to scent the person. - Bloodlore Hunter's Edge proc chance has been increased. - Fencing's Coup de Grace now requires level 3 bleeding instead of level 2. - Any skill that gives bleeding has had its bleed damage swapped over to the new bleeding system. There is a floor cost of 5% of your max adrenaline. This makes it cheaper to use the lower you are on adrenaline. - It now fails if the target is not defending. - The cooldown is only triggered on a successful sever instead of any attempt, which will punish you if you try to spam it ineffectively. This should make Priests more on-par with Magicians and Soldiers. - Fencing Balestra can now be used against mobiles, and applies 1 severed nerve. Rather than increasing bleeding damage, this increases the critical strike chance of your bleeding affliction against the mob dramatically (up to a 33% base chance), increasing both your damage and your ability to utilize inquartata. This should make lower-level Rogue bashing more in-line with our intended vision for Rogues. Note that this does not grant a chance to land anything beyond the "base" critical strike, which is 2x damage. Instead, you are simply increasingly likely to fail the shoplifting attempt for higher-valued items (anything 5 silver and below is still a guaranteed success). - Failing a shoplifting attempt will now initiate a 30 minute cooldown on shoplifting.
